CDG to Orly for a Connecting Flight: How to Plan It

Some itineraries land you at Charles de Gaulle and leave from Orly, or the reverse. The two airports are on opposite sides of Paris, so the connection needs planning.

How long does it take?

The drive between CDG and Orly takes 35 to 50 minutes by the ring road or the A86, depending on traffic. Rush hours (roughly 7–10 am and 5–8 pm on weekdays) are the slowest.

How much time to allow in total

Add up:

• •the time to leave the plane, pass passport control and collect your bags at the first airport;
• •the drive itself;
• •the check-in and security margin your airline asks for at the second airport.

In practice, a 4-hour gap between the two flights is comfortable; less than that becomes tight at busy times.
